The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has launched a groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven registration portal to transform Nigeria’s business environment by simplifying company registration and accelerating approval processes.

The Commission’s Registrar-General and CEO, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, disclosed this through a statement at the 2025 CAC Stakeholders’ Forum held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“The Corporate Affairs Commission has announced the take-off of a pilot Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered registration portal—a major game changer for doing business in Nigeria,” the statement read.

Magaji explained that the new AI-powered portal allows instant name reservations, with intelligent algorithms programmed to suggest alternative names when preferred ones are unavailable.

“Name reservation is now as easy as opening an email account,” he said, noting that business owners can start registration using just the National Identification Number (NIN) of a director or proprietor.

Once the NIN is verified, the system automatically generates the registration certificate and delivers it to the applicant’s email within 30 minutes.

While occasional delays may still occur due to issues with external validation, particularly with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Magaji revealed that the CAC has developed a contingency solution using AI-powered photo ID matching to resolve such challenges.

He described the new system as a “game-changer” that aligns with CAC’s vision of providing faster, more innovative, and more reliable services to businesses nationwide.

The CAC also announced a series of additional tech-driven initiatives to complement the AI platform.

These include the rollout of Two-Factor Authentication and OTP verification for all company transactions, ensuring that no changes can be made to corporate records without the full consent of registered directors.

Magaji further disclosed plans to launch a CAC Mobile App in the last quarter of 2025, enabling users to initiate and track transactions, access company data, and manage applications from their mobile devices.

As part of its ongoing reforms and commitment to quality assurance, the Commission announced a review of specific service fees, effective August 1, 2025.

Magaji said the adjustments were necessary to sustain high service standards and fund the Commission’s expanding digital infrastructure.
