Tonya Lawani Joins Dangote Group’s NASCON Board As Independent Director

NASCON Allied Industries Plc, a key subsidiary of the Dangote Group, has appointed seasoned corporate strategist and governance expert, Tonya Lawani, as an Independent Non-Executive Director on its Board.

The company, known for its leading role in salt refining and seasoning production in Nigeria, announced Lawani’s appointment as part of its commitment to enhancing corporate governance and sustaining long-term growth across its operations.

Her appointment took effect on Monday, June 30, 2025.

In a statement, NASCON described Lawani’s appointment as a strategic move in line with its vision to strengthen governance structures while continuing to deliver innovation and quality in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods industry.

With more than a decade of experience spanning leadership, board service, and business development across various sectors, Lawani is expected to bring fresh perspectives and strategic insight to NASCON’s boardroom.

She is respected for her work in advancing ethical leadership, inclusive economic growth, and capacity building across the African business landscape.

Currently the Managing Director and CEO of Seal Group, which operates out of Lagos and Benin City, Lawani holds a BSc in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and an MBA from the Metropolitan School of Business and Management in the United Kingdom.

She is also an alumna of the Lagos Business School’s Owner Manager Programme and has completed executive leadership programmes at Harvard University.

Lawani delivered her first leadership paper to youth entrepreneurs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, and has since remained a visible advocate for good governance in both the public and private sectors. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Directors (M.CIoD) and sits on several corporate boards, where she promotes the principles of transparency and sustainable business practices.
