The ICPC said he was arrested for some alleged financial crimes but was granted administrative bail while the the investigation continued.

Folawiyo was arrested for alleged gross corruption, massive stealing, diversion of public funds for personal benefits, non-adherence to due process, among other reasons.

He was arrested at the Council Secretariat on 42 Broad Street, Lagos, after failing to honour repeated ICPC invitations sent and acknowledged by him.
