Savannah Energy has offered support through its Savannah Energy Education and Internship Training (SEE-IT) programme to one hundred students.

The initiative, launched in 2023 by the company’s midstream subsidiary, Accugas Limited, is targeted at academically bright but financially disadvantaged students from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.

The SEE-IT programme provides full university scholarships, covering tuition, accommodation, study materials, and living expenses.

Since its inception, the scheme has awarded 100 full scholarships, 50 in 2023 and another 50 in 2024, allowing students to pursue degrees across a variety of disciplines in both public and private universities.
The initiative aims to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, which advocates equitable access to quality education.

According to Savannah Energy, the SEE-IT programme is part of its broader sustainability strategy focused on socio-economic development. Beyond financial assistance, beneficiaries receive leadership and personal development training and are guaranteed internship placements at Savannah upon graduation.
This, the company said, ensures students are equipped with both academic and practical skills for future careers.

The programme has also received commendations from government officials. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, represented by former Education Commissioner, Idongesit Etiebet, described SEE-IT as a transformative initiative that aligns with the state’s A.R.I.S.E. Agenda.

He urged other corporate organisations to emulate Savannah’s gesture, which includes sponsoring students and promoting environmental awareness in schools.
In addition to scholarships, Savannah expanded the initiative in 2023 to include Environmental Awareness Clubs in 20 secondary schools in Akwa Ibom. The clubs aim to promote sustainable practices and environmental education. The programme culminated in a quiz competition, where winners received cash prizes and automatic scholarships.

Savannah’s Managing Director in Nigeria, Pade Durotoye, said the company is driven by a strong belief in the power of education to transform lives and economies. “We believe that education is what unlocks our potential.”

He added that the initiative seeks to remove financial barriers for gifted students. With over 1,400 applications received in 2024 alone, the SEE-IT programme is seen as a growing model for private sector support in bridging Nigeria’s education gap.
