To boost girls’ education in Bauchi State, the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has revealed that 12,970 adolescent girls will receive financial support under the first phase of its Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme.

State Component Lead for Financial Incentives, Hadiza Abdulkadir, disclosed this during a sensitisation meeting with traditional leaders, parents, and caregivers at Government Girls College, Bauchi.

She said that although over 18,000 girls were initially captured, only those who met World Bank screening requirements, including having valid BVN and NIN, qualified for payment.

Hadiza added that ATM card issuance to successful beneficiaries is set to begin soon.
Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Mohammed, applauded the AGILE technical team for its commitment to adolescent girl enrollment and retention, noting that the Bauchi State Government has already fulfilled its N150 million counterpart funding.

He added that beneficiaries must maintain at least 75% school attendance to remain eligible.
