Soldier Arrested Over Death Of Phone Repairer

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of a soldier over the death of a phone repairer, Alkasim Ibrahim, purportedly caused by Lance Corporal Ahmed Aminu, on Friday in Mayo Belwa, Adamawa State.

In a statement yesterday, the acting assistant director, Army Public Relations HQ 23 Brigade Yola, Lt Adebayo Adewumi, said the Nigerian Army acknowledges the reported incident with deep concern and wishes to inform the public that the said soldier has since been taken into custody.

Adewumi said a thorough investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.

“The Nigerian Army assures the public that the outcome of the investigation will be made public to ensure transparency, accountability and justice.

 

“It is important to reiterate that the Nigerian Army remains a professional and disciplined institution committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of all citizens.
