The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has dismissed the Opposition Coalition’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) bid to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, describing the alliance as a “gathering of strange bedfellows” with a history of betrayal, sectionalism, and failed governance.

In a statement, NDYC National President, Comrade Israel Uwejeyan, said the ADC coalition lacked moral capital and grassroots structures to mount a meaningful challenge, citing the questionable track records of its key members, including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Chibuike Amaechi.

The NDYC leader highlighted the alleged failures of the individuals, including Atiku’s alleged betrayal of the South-East in the 2022 PDP presidential primaries, and Amaechi’s alleged abandonment of the Eastern rail corridor.

“We cannot forget that Atiku Abubakar, the perpetual candidate and serial defector, is yet to account for his betrayal of the Southeast in the 2022 PDP primaries and his failure to back restructuring, despite decades of empty promises,” Uwejeyan said.

The group expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and the competence of his team, including Dr. Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, whose work has strengthened security in the North-West; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser, whose decisive leadership has restored confidence in the security apparatus; Senator Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, whose transformational impact is visible across the Southeast and beyond; and Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, whose stellar management has raised the bar of governance.

The NDYC also called on President Tinubu to publish the delayed forensic audit reports on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“Nigerians deserve to know the truth behind the allegations recently made by FCT Minister Wike, and NDYC urges the president to ensure accountability without fear or favor,” Uwejeyan said.

The group reaffirmed its unwavering support for President Tinubu’s re-election, citing his administration’s progress and stability, and dismissed the ADC coalition as “dead on arrival.”

“For the young people of the Niger Delta, the choice in 2027 is not between good and bad, it is between progress and regression, between a tested leader with a winning team and a broken coalition of yesterday’s men,” Uwejeyan said.
