Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has said that his administration is committed to strengthening Primary Health Care (PHC) across the state.

He spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting with royal highnesses (émirs and mais), religious leaders, development partners, Ministry of Health staff, PHC Management Board officials, and civil society organisations in Damaturu

Governor Buni described his vision for accessible and affordable healthcare as the cornerstone of socio-economic development.

Buni commended the support of the federal government and development partners, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, UNICEF, and WHO.

He added that the state is committed to healthcare delivery, citing the establishment of 142 functional primary healthcare centres, provision of equipment and drugs, and recruitment of 2,000 qualified healthcare personnel.

He also mentioned the establishment of the Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA) and Yobe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (YODMA) to address healthcare financing and drug supply in the state.
