A candidate from Anambra State, Okeke Chinedu, has emerged as the highest scorer in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), securing a total score of 375.

However, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, on Tuesday, revealed discrepancies surrounding Okeke’s identity and academic history.

Speaking at the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting in Abuja, Oloyede disclosed that while Okeke applied for Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos, JAMB records showed that he was admitted into the Department of Medicine at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) four years ago.

According to Oloyede, UNN confirmed that Okeke is currently a registered medical student at the institution and is “doing well,” but provided no information about a withdrawal or transfer.

JAMB has since written to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to ensure that Okeke is not licensed to practice medicine under questionable circumstances.
