In a statement released to the newsmen yesterday in Abuja, Abubakar described the monarch as a great man who has made significant contributions to the nation.

“Oba Owolabi Olakusehin, elected to the House of Representatives on the ticket of the SDP in 1992, is remembered as a unifier and a dedicated servant to his people and the country. He played a vital role in national development as a military officer and a federal legislator.”He said

He further said that the SDP Family prides itself in producing three successive Olubadans, including the late Olubadan Lekan Balogun and the current Otun Olubadan, Senator Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. Oba Ladoja has previously served as Governor of Oyo State and as a distinguished Senator.

He said, “As Ibadan mourns the loss of Oba Owolabi Olakusehin and prepares to welcome their new Olubadan, the SDP prays for continued peace, growth, and prosperity for the city and its people. Well wishes for Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as he takes on his new role as the next Olubadan of Ibadan.”
