Former Jigawa State governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) founding father, Alh. Sule Lamido, has resolved to work for the victory of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2027 while retaining his PDP membership.

The former minister said he will operate the same way as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike, who is in PDP but is working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Two weeks ago, Lamido and other top PDP leaders had attended the concerned PDP leaders meeting in Abuja where they decided to join the ADC.

The meeting was a precursor to the unveiling of ADC as the opposition coalition platform, last week, which seeks to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Some PDP leaders in Wike’s camp had declared that they will work for Tinubu’s victory in 2027.

However, Lamido, who spoke to BBC Hausa, said while politics in Nigeria does not support factionalism, he will look for a right candidate to support not just a political party.

He regretted that most political parties in Nigeria are beleaguered by challenges leading to divisions which “needs to be addressed critically.”

Noting that PDP’s problem is self-inflicted, Lamido said he is not afraid of anyone and assured that he will remain and salvage the party.

He identified the political problems in the party as hypocrisy and selfishness. He however said his goal is to emancipate the society by remaining in PDP while supporting ADC.
