Commissioners for Information from All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled states have been charged with driving grassroots communication and mobilisation efforts to deepen the impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the country.

At a strategic meeting held in Niger State yesterday, the minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, asked the commissioners to become active conveyors of government policies and progress at the community level.

“You are at the forefront as information managers and the face of government at the state level,” he said. “You must return home with renewed energy and effectively mobilise your people to take full advantage of the promise of Renewed Hope.”

The meeting was organised by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) as part of its quarterly strategic conference, with the theme: “Strategic Communication and Policy Alignment.”

Idris emphasised that the Tinubu administration is guided not by slogans, but by a well-structured eight-point policy agenda focused on economic revitalisation, infrastructure development, and inclusive governance.

He highlighted key initiatives already underway—including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Kaduna-Kano Railway, and the AKK Gas Pipeline—as tangible proofs of the president’s commitment to national transformation.

The minister also shared updates on major social investment programmes.

He disclosed that over 900,000 small businesses have received support through the Presidential Conditional Grant and Loan Scheme. Additionally, more than 350,000 students are currently benefitting from the federal government’s Student Loan Scheme, with over ₦70 billion already committed to the initiative.

He encouraged the commissioners to collaborate with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), traditional institutions, youth groups, and civil society organisations to communicate the reforms effectively and combat misinformation.

“Let us ensure the message of Renewed Hope reaches every community,” Idris added. “We are tools for national orientation and greater community engagement.”

In his remarks, Niger State governor Mohammed Bago, represented by the secretary to the state government (SSG), Abubakar Gawu Bago, welcomed the delegates and described the meeting as a vital platform for advancing progressive governance.

The director-general of the PGF, Mr. Folorunsho Aluko, addressed the gathering, stressing that strategic alignment in messaging across APC states is essential for public trust and policy coherence.

In her address, Niger State commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Bintam Mamman, echoed the call for synergy and emphasised the importance of storytelling in governance.
