A resident of the area said the deceased died instantly while his son was found in the pool of his blood.

The resident, who did not want his name disclosed, said, “The man’s son was shot but he survived the attack. He is currently receiving treatment at an unnamed hospital. No fewer than seven kidnapping incidents have occurred in Ovwor-Olomu town in less than a month,” he said.

While calling on security agencies to come to the aid of the community, he lamented that residents living on the outskirts of the area were no longer safe as they were the primary targets of the kidnappers.

The police command public relations officer, SP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident and promised that the criminals would be arrested and the safety of the people enhanced.
