Prince Igwe Bags Nelson Mandela Leadership Award

Lead Ambassador Prince Emeka Obubua Igwe, the visionary founder of Obuba Properties, a subsidiary to Obuba investment limited, has been awarded the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity by the West African Youth Council (WAYC), the youth development arm of ECOWAS.

The prestigious honour, presented by Amb. Olaleru Folorunsho recognises Igwe’s dedication to ethical leadership, his impact in the real estate sector, and his contribution to youth empowerment across the West African sub-region.

As founder of Obuba Properties, Prince Igwe has distinguished himself through a commitment to affordable luxury housing and innovative property solutions. Under his leadership, the company has delivered high-quality real estate projects while also promoting entrepreneurship, job creation, and skill development among young people.

Speaking at the event, officials of the West African Youth Council described Prince Igwe as “a leader driven by integrity and purpose.” They noted his track record in community development and his commitment to building sustainable systems that improve lives.

“Ambassador Igwe exemplifies the spirit of Nelson Mandela through his unwavering pursuit of excellence and his passion for empowering others,” a Council representative stated.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Igwe dedicated the award to aspiring African entrepreneurs, saying: “This honour is not just for me, but for every young African working to create real impact through service, discipline, and vision. We will continue to build and grow with integrity.”

The event, had in attendance Dr.(Mrs) Esther Temitope Igwe, President SealDeal Realtors Network Limited. With this recognition, Prince Emeka Obuba Igwe joins a growing list of distinguished African leaders and entrepreneurs whose work reflects the values of transformational leadership and social responsibility championed by Nelson Mandela.
