Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has charged the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) on rehabilitation of dilapidated federal roads in the state.
Governor Buni made the appeal in Damaturu yesterday when the House Committee On FERMA paid him a courtesy visit.
He said the bad portion of the roads constitute a weapon for crime as motorists are forced to slow down on the bad spots of the roads and making them easy prey to criminals.
“It has become necessary to fix the roads to improve security across the state” he said.
The governor listed Bara-Gulani, Buni-Bara, Kaliyari-Bayamari, and Geidam-Maine Sorowa federal roads among those in need of rehabilitation.
In his response, the chairman of the committee, Hon Aderemi Abasi Oseni, said they were on an assessment tour of roads in the region.
He explained that the committee had taken note of the areas of concern on the federal roads and would work towards their immediate rehabilitation.
He commended Governor Buni for the construction of road networks in the state, saying, it would boost economic growth of the state.
