Delta Queens Emerge Champions Of Grassroots Miss Amnesty Basketball Tournament

Delta Queens have emerged winners of the 4th edition of the Grassroots Discovery of Women in Sports competitions tagged ‘Miss Amnesty Nigeria Basketball Championship’ by defeating Divine Speed Academy Warri by 30–14.

The 4th edition of the Grassroots Discovery of Women in Sports tagged ‘Miss Amnesty Nigeria Basketball Championship will go down as a memorable one as the sponsors expressed determination and commitment to continue sponsoring the programme.

The exciting final event for 2025 came to a conclusion on Sunday, as Delta Queens Asaba emerged the winner of the Grassroots Discovery of Women in Sports

The Grassroots Discovery of Women in Sports was sponsored by Tracy Macwary Foundation and was held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba on Sunday.

The basketball championship saw the best basketball teams from across Nigeria competing for honours.

This edition highlighted the impact of the championship, which had helped shape the lives of girl child through sports.

This latest victory cemented Delta Queens position as one of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history.

In the Semi finals, Discover Academy Warri, defeated Bayelsa Queens by 24-23.

Ms Tracy Mcwary of Tracy Mcwary Foundation said that the participants embodied a spirit of competition that the championship fosters.

“To every player, coaches, and supporters, your journey here is a testament to your hard work and commitment. I congratulate everyone,” she said.

She also commended them for their dedication to nurturing young talents.

Mcwary reaffirmed the purpose behind the Grassroots Discovery of Women in Sports as an empowerment initiative to lift women off the streets and also give them a sense of belonging in the society
