FULL LIST: Tinubu Appoints Akume, Wike, Ribadu, Others To C’ttee For Buhari’s State Funeral

President Bola Tinubu has approved the constitution of an inter-ministerial committee to coordinate the state burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London, United Kingdom.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen.

According to the statement, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has been appointed chairman of the committee and tasked with planning and coordinating “a befitting state funeral” for the late former president.

“President Tinubu has constituted an inter-ministerial committee under the chairmanship of the SGF to ensure that the burial proceedings reflect the dignity, honour, and national appreciation befitting a former head of state,” Imohiosen said.

Hereunder are Members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee:

Wale Edun – Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy

Abubakar Bagudu – Minister of Budget and Economic Planning

Mohammed Badaru Abubakar – Minister of Defence

Mohammed Idris – Minister of Information and National Orientation

Dave Umahi – Minister of Works

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo – Minister of Interior

Nyesom Wike – Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Ahmed Dangiwa – Minister of Housing and Urban Development

Iziaq Salako – Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare

Hannatu Musawa – Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy

Nuhu Ribadu – National Security Adviser

Hadiza Bala Usman – Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination

Kabiru Masari – Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters

Kayode Egbetokun – Inspector-General of Police

Yusuf Bichi (represented by Adeola Ajayi) – Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS)

Other members include the Chief of Defence Staff, the Permanent Secretary (General Services Office), and officials from the General Services Secretariat, who will serve as the secretariat to the committee.

Imohiosen further disclosed that President Tinubu directed all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) across the country to open condolence registers at the entrances of their offices to allow Nigerians pay their respects.

Additionally, a central condolence register for the diplomatic community and the general public will be opened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

LEADERSHIP reports that the remains of the late president were expected to arrive Nigeria by noon on Tuesday, with burial scheduled for 2pm in his hometown of Daura in Katsina State, according to Governor Dikko Radda.
