The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has mourned the passing of Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari.
Musa, in a condolence message signed by the director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau, described Buhari as a symbol of dedication to national service.
He described his death as “loss of a revered elder statesman, a patriot and a gallant senior officer.”
He described the late President Buhari as an exemplary leader whose life was defined by discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.
He noted that Buhari’s contributions to national development, both in the military and democratic leadership, had left an enduring legacy in Nigeria’s history.
The CDS also noted that the late president has written his name in gold as an incorruptible leader and vanguard of prudence.
“President Buhari was a symbol of dedication to national service,” the CDS said.
“He fought tirelessly for the unity and indivisibility of our great country. His leadership, courage, and principles will continue to inspire generations of citizens.”
The CDS also emphasised the late president’s embodiment of strict discipline, and adherence to the rule of law was a defining hallmark of his leadership in both military and democratic governance.
“President Buhari’s zero tolerance for indiscipline remains worthy of emulation,” General Musa added.
General Musa while praying for the peaceful repose of the former president’s soul, also prayed Almighty Allah to grant his family, and the entire nation the fortitude to bear this monumental loss.
