Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Abdulkarim Lawan, has commiserated with the family of former President Muhammadu Buhari over his sad demise.
Lawan described the death of the immediate past president as a great loss to the country, stressing that he was a great man who served the nation as a military head of state and a civilian president.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Maiduguri by the senior special assistant on Media and Publicity, the speaker said he prayed to Allah to grant the immediate and extended family of the late president the fortitude to bear the loss and for the Almighty God to grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
Similarly, the former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, said he received the news of the demise of the former president with great shock and profound sadness.
A statement by Senator Sheriff’s media team on Monday in Maiduguri said General Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure as Military Governor of Borno State, where he led the state government for a brief period of three months, left a lasting impact.
Senator Sheriff remembered this period with mixed emotions, recalling his significant contributions to the state and the nation.
He described the late President as a good man who served Nigeria well during his eight-year tenure as democratically elected president.
He commended President Buhari’s commitment to democracy, stability, and the welfare of Nigerians.
Senator Sheriff prayed for Muhammadu Buhari’s soul to rest in peace:” May God have mercy on his soul, and may Jannatul Firdaus be his final abode.”
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the good people of Nigeria, wishing them comfort and strength during this difficult time.
