Rather, the group urged dialogue and peaceful resolution of the concerns raised over the contract and “focus on the smooth and effective delivery of the pipeline repair project”.

The Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) had demanded the cancellation of the contract to awarded to PINL.

Also, the chairman, Renaissance for Good Governance (IRGG), Chief Samuel Ambakederemo and secretary, Dr. Justice Ingowari, in a separate statement, condemned what it described “frivolous call for the termination of pipeline contract awarded PINL.”

They said Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited’s had contributed immensely to the country’s economy adding that their intervention in the fight against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft in the Eastern Corridor had led to drastic increase in crude oil production and the associated economic, social and environmental benefits to the country.
