The new faculty comprises four academic departments: Architecture, Estate Management, Quantity Surveying and Building Technology.

The ceremony marks a major milestone in the Gombe State Government’s commitment to expanding access to higher education.

The Dukku campus is part of a broader strategic push that also includes the recent establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture in Malam-Sidi aimed at enhancing GSU’s academic capacity and creating more admission opportunities for students across Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

Governor  Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, who is the Visitor to the Institute, was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi

Speaking at the event, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector at all levels.

“Education remains a cornerstone of our development agenda. We are proud to support initiatives that expand learning opportunities and raise academic standards across the state.”

Acting Vice Chancellor of GSU, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, thanked the state government for its continuous support and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are both academically sound and morally upright.

He also announced that over 4,000 GSU students have so far benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), a federal government programme that provides financial assistance to students pursuing higher education.

“Our focus is on excellence, innovation, and global partnerships to ensure that our graduates are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to society,” Prof. Yauta stated.

Chairman of Dukku Local Government, Alhaji Adamu Muhammed Waziri, praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya for bringing tertiary education closer to the grassroots.

The Emir of Dukku, Alhaji Haruna Abdulkadir Rasheed II, expressed gratitude for the dual initiatives of the state government and the federal government, the latter having recently approved the establishment of a Federal College of Education in Dukku.
