Both teams then battled for control of the match, with Zambia captain Barbara Banda giving the Super Falcons’ defence a stern test.

Okoronkwo doubled Nigeria’s lead three minutes past the half-hour mark.

The AFC Toronto striker expertly controlled Rasheedat Ajibade’s superb cross before firing home from inside the box.

Chiwendu Ihezuo capitalised on a defensive error to score Nigeria’s third goal on the stroke of half-time, making it her third of the tournament and placing her firmly in contention for the top scorer award.

The Zambians enjoyed a spell of possession after the break, but the Super Falcons held their ground and preserved their commanding lead.

Tosin Demehin nodded in another exquisite cross from Okoronkwo to make it 4–0 in the 68th minute.

There was still time for one more, as Folashade Ijamilusi slammed home Ajibade’s pass right on the 90-minute mark.

Justine Madugu’s side will face the winner of the South Africa versus Senegal clash in the semi-finals next Tuesday.
