Audi announced this on Thursday while speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the university’s Senate Building named after him during an operational tour of Abia State.

”Let me say it here that this university has come to stay. And let me also say that we’re going to do our best to support it and the students from the less privileged families.

‎”This is especially now that we’re preparing to take some of the student nurses to the United States of America for internship in line with the saying that knowledge is power,” he said.

The CG, who is also the alternate chairman of the Board of Trustees of the first private university in Umuahia, charged the students to remain focused and dedicated to their studies.

He lauded the CEO of America Home Health Aid Training Institute, Maria Santiago for coming to profile the first set of 53 students of the university for an exchange programme in the US.

In her speech, Santiago noted that the university was more than she had imagined when she left the US, adding that words can’t express how she now feels.

“When our 53 students arrive in America, they will definitely have something to come back home with,” she said.

Santiago, who had earlier been honoured with a chieftaincy title of Ugo Oma (Beautiful Eagle) 1 of Afaraukwu, the university’s host community, wished the university well.

Earlier in a remark, the founder and pro-chancellor of the university, Gabriel Okenwa reiterated his commitment to the development of the society through quality education.
