Ten million naira has been raised to equip and install a computer laboratory and digital library at Junior Secondary School (JSS) Gwagwa, Abuja, in a bid to enhance educational opportunities for underserved students.

The funds were generated through a Charity Half Marathon organised by Run Club Abuja (RCA).

Peju Lawanson, Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), stated that JSS Gwagwa was selected as the beneficiary due to its lack of accessible computers for students, despite the essential role of technology in modern education.

“We support both fitness and charity. While helping people achieve their fitness goals, we’re also enabling the children of JSS Gwagwa to benefit from a digital library,” Lawanson remarked.

According to a statement from Jonathan Ameh, a club member and Chairman of the Media Committee, the funds were raised through participant registrations and sponsorship, which will be used to purchase computers and other equipment for the library.

Henry Okelue, the club’s founder, noted that the event has grown significantly since its inception five years ago, increasing from 150 participants to 700 in the 2025 edition. He expressed hopes of surpassing 10,000 participants in future events.
