He assured members of civil society of his commitment to upholding the highest standard of discipline and accountability and to elevating KONGONET above where his predecessor, Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina, has taken it, saying he cannot afford to lower the standard.

Comrade Aliyu, who stated this weekend, during a get-together organised in honour of the immediate past chairperson of KONGONET, Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina, solicited the cooperation and collaboration of members of the civil society in the state to ensure better and robust civil society engagements in all sectors of the economy.

Members of the civil society groups, in their various speeches, eulogised Ambassador Muraina for his leadership qualities, particularly his patience and transparency as former Chairperson of KONGONET, which they said has brought the organisation to the limelight.

They called on the incumbent chairperson, Hamza Aliyu, to continue promoting inclusivity and collaboration, which they said accounted for his predecessor’s success.

They expressed confidence that Mr Aliyu would do even better, citing his teamwork and great support for his predecessor’s success. They assured him of their continued support.

In his emotionally charged speech, the immediate past chairperson thanked members of the state’s civil society for their support, saying that the successes recorded would not have been possible without their support and cooperation.

He called on them to continue to support his successes with the same and even greater support. He assured them that, given his antecedents, Comrade Aliyu’s performance would be better than his, saying he was the pillar behind the success of his tenure as KONGONET chairperson.

While calling on members to continue to offer helpful advice that will advance the course of civil society in the state to the new leadership, he promised to continue to play his advisory roles to ensure the success of the new leadership for the benefit of all.
