In a major stride toward improving education standards, a high-powered delegation from the Yobe State government has visited Germany and secured key international support to enhance science, ICT, and overall learning environments in the state’s primary and secondary schools.

The delegation, led by Baba Malam Wali, secretary to the state government (SSG), on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni, met with the leadership of TIME TO HELP Germany, a renowned charity organisation committed to promoting education in developing countries.

A statement issued by the press secretary to SSG, Shu’aibu Abdullahi, said that during the meeting held in Frankfurt, Germany, the Yobe delegation presented the state’s ongoing efforts to improve access to quality education, particularly in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and agriculture (STEMA).
Governor Buni, in a message delivered by the SSG, emphasised that education remains a cornerstone of his administration’s development priorities and called for greater international collaboration to strengthen foundational learning in public schools.

The governor appealed to TIME TO HELP to support Yobe in areas including ICT integration in classrooms, science education infrastructure, and the provision of learning materials.

“This partnership is not only important but another milestone in the Buni administration’s drive to modernise the education sector, bridge infrastructure gaps, and equip future generations with skills relevant to a fast-changing global landscape.”

Responding, the managing director of TIME TO HELP Germany, Mr Cengiz Bayram, commended the Yobe State government’s commitment to educational development and pledged the organisation’s support.
Bayram announced that TIME TO HELP will fund the drilling of 50 boreholes in primary and secondary schools across Yobe to improve access to clean water, an essential component of healthy learning environments.

In addition, the organisation will facilitate the supply of computers, science laboratory equipment, and learning materials to schools across the state to enhance digital literacy and promote STEM-based learning.
