2027: Peter Obi ‘Least Of Our Worries’, Says Edo Commissioner

The Edo State Government has downplayed the political relevance of 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, saying he was the least of its worries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Monday, Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohonbamu, dismissed Obi’s capacity to challenge the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo and across the country.

“Peter Obi is the least of our worries. APC can’t be threatened because of Peter Obi. Ask him what he will even do when he becomes president, and he’ll simply say, ‘Let me get there first.’ There is no clear-cut blueprint of what he wants to do,” Ohonbamu said during the live interview.

The commissioner criticised Obi’s governance credentials, claiming that the former Anambra State governor lacks a coherent and actionable plan for Nigeria’s development.

He further described Obi’s agenda as vague and lacking depth.

Ohonbamu also questioned Obi’s political hold in his home region, the South East, challenging the perception of the Labour Party’s growing influence.

“Enugu is governed by the PDP and Anambra by APGA. So where is his dominance?” he asked.

He added that the Labour Party only controls Abia in the South East, while the APC holds Imo and Ebonyi.

“Peter Obi is just struggling with errors. I can assure you, his defeat is a fixed deposit,” the Commissioner boasted.
