Flood Washes Away Rice Farms In Kebbi

Overflown rivers have washed away rice farmlands in Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski local government areas in Kebbi State.

An indigene of the area, Ahmed Sarkin Yaki, who confirmed the disaster to LEADERSHIP in Birnin Kebbi, said many crops were destroyed in the rice farmlands in the three local government areas in Yauri Emirate.

According to him, the affected communities included Kwanji, Gebbe, Nasara, Ishe, Tungan Hakimi Mamuda,  Buro and Kurdoso

“We suspected this overflow of water from Dolekaina, Jega and Tondi Gada,” Sarkin Yaki said.

“We are appealing to chairmen of the three local governments to come to the aid of those affected by the overflow of water in their farmlands,” he added.
