Former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, said Nigerians are dying on daily basis, not as result of sickness, but due to starvation under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Amaechi stated this on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital while addressing his supporters, loyalists and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, shortly after arriving from Abuja.

LEADERSHIP observed that hundreds of members of the ADC and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, as early as 9:30am to receive the former minister who was visiting the state for the first time, after joining other opposition political leaders to form the new coalition under the ADC about three weeks ago.

Amaechi’s convoy from the airport stopped at strategic junctions in the state capital, including popular Garrison Junction, along Port Harcourt – Aba Road, where he came down to acknowledge greetings from supporters and admirers.

The former APC presidential aspirant said, “Currently, Nigerians are complaining about President Tinubu’s first tenure. Imagine what the second tenure will look like. Then, you will get dead and buried.

“People are dying everyday, not because of sickness, but because of starvation. I am looking for people who will join me to confront them.”

Amaechi, who is also former governor of Rivers State, urged members and supporters of ADC in the state to move to the grassroots, in line with the directives of the National Working Committee of the party, to mobilise the people ahead of the 2027 general election.

Amaechi who also noted that Rivers State was notorious for writing election results, pledged that the coalition under the ADC will put a stop to such act in the state.

“Our state is notorious for writing results and we must stop them from writing results. They make noise after writing results. We must stop them from writing results.

“Let me tell you one thing we should not do; when you say they have already written results, it discourages voters from coming out to vote. We will confront them on the issue of writing results. We will ask voters to come out and vote.

“They should come out and vote for change; they should come out and vote for tags removal of the current government.

“We are new members of the ADC. The National Working Committee has directed that we should go from local government by local government, ward to ward, to ascertain the number of people that we have.

“Please, go home now and start mobilising because these are people who are going to vote,” Amaechi directed his supporters.
