Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has flagged off the distribution of ATM cards to eligible JSS 1 and SS 1 students under the Conditional Cash Transfer, (CCT) Scholarship for Girls.
The programme is initiated by the state government in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE)Project.

The director of Donor Agencies, Lawali Haliru Mu’azu, who represented the commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmad Ladan Ala, urged parents to ensure the CCT funds are used for the purpose intended in supporting the education of their children and encouraging students to remain focused and committed to their studies.

In his remarks, the state coordinator of the AGILE Project, Dr. Mansur Isa Buhari, cautioned parents to prioritse their children’s education by using the funds appropriately.

The CCT Component Lead, Mamuda Galadima, clarified that only students who are duly registered and punctual are eligible for the scholarship. He also noted that while the ATM cards have been distributed, the accounts currently hold no funds.

The official disbursement will be flagged off next week by the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu.
