A former minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has tackled the President Bola Tinubu-led administration over  the level of hunger in the country.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain said the opposition coalition party would end to the  illegal writing of election results in Rivers State.

Amaechi spoke yesterday in Port Harcourt, the state capital while addressing his supporters, loyalists and ADC members in the state, shortly after arriving from Abuja.

LEADERSHIP observed that hundreds of members of the ADC and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa as early as 9:30am to receive the former minister, who was visiting the state for the first time, after joining other opposition political leaders to form the new coalition under the ADC about three weeks ago.

It was observed that Amaechi’s convoy from the airport stopped at strategic junctions in the state capital, including popular Garrison Junction, along Port Harcourt -Aba Road, where he came down to acknowledge greetings from supporters and admirers.

The former APC presidential aspirant said: “Currently, Nigerians are complaining about President Tinubu’s first tenure. Imagine what the second tenure will look like.

“People are dying everyday, not because of sickness, but because of starvation. I am looking for people who will join me to confront them.”

Amaechi, who is also former governor of Rivers State, urged members and supporters of ADC in the state to move to the grassroots, in line with the directives of the National Working Committee of the party, to mobilise the people of the state ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said: “Our state is notorious for writing results and we must stop them from writing results. They make noise after writing results. We must stop them from writing results.

“Let me tell you one thing we should not do. When you say they have already written results, it discourages voters from coming out to vote. We will confront them on the issue of writing results. We will ask voters to come out a vote.

“They should come out and vote for change; they should come out and vote for tags removal of the current government.

“We are new members of the ADC. The National Working Committee has directed that we should go from local government by local government, ward to ward, to ascertain the number of people that we have. Please, go home now and start mobilising because these are people who are going to vote,” he said.
