Yilwatda’s emergence followed his election at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday.

In a statement in Abuja on Friday, Lawan expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s capacity to lead the APC towards a more united and prosperous future.

He described the new APC Chairman as a “distinguished academic” and a “passionate advocate for good governance.”

“It is with immense pride and unyielding optimism that I extend my warmest congratulations to Professor Nentawe Yilwatda on his well-deserved election as the National Chairman of our great party,” Lawan said.

The former Senate President hailed Yilwatda’s leadership qualities, stating that his appointment signified “purposeful and focused leadership” that aligns with the APC’s core values of progress and unity.

“As a stalwart of our beloved party, Professor Yilwatda brings a wealth of intellectual rigour and practical insights to steer the APC towards greater heights,” Lawan added.

Lawan said he was confident that under Yilwatda’s guidance, the ruling party would “continue to champion policies that uplift the marginalised, strengthen our democracy, and propel our nation towards sustainable prosperity.”

He also used the opportunity to commend the immediate-past National Chairman of the ruling party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje for his steadfast leadership and commitment to party cohesion during his tenure.

Lawan praised Ganduje’s efforts in promoting electoral success and stability within the APC.

In the same vein, he acknowledged the contributions of Hon. Ali Dalori, who served as Acting National Chairman during the party’s transitional period.

According to him, Dalori’s interim leadership was marked by efficiency and a steady hand that kept the party on course.

“As we embrace this new phase, let us rally behind Prof. Yilwatda and work together to build on the solid foundations laid by his distinguished predecessors,” he added.

Expressing optimism about the party’s trajectory, he concluded: “The APC’s future is bright, and I am confident that with collaborative spirit and renewed vigour, we will achieve even greater heights for our beloved country.”
