2025 Karate Championship: Egypt Tops Medals Table

Team Egypt made an impressive start at the 2025 Africa Karate Championship, in Abuja, asserting their dominance on the African continent.

At the close of Day 1 events on Friday evening, the North African nation topped the medals’ table with a commanding performance, winning eight gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

Nigeria, the host nation also had a strong showing, clinching a total of five medals comprising one gold, one silver, and three bronze, which secured them second place on the medals table.

Senegal, Morocco, and Niger each claimed one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, collectively occupying third place.

Algeria followed in fourth with one gold medal, while Cameroon settled for fifth position after earning three silver and four bronze medals.

The championship, currently taking place in Abuja attracted top athletes from across Africa, showcasing a vibrant celebration of skill, discipline, and sportsmanship.

The competition is set to continue on Saturday, with high expectations that Team Nigeria will increase its medal tally.

A total of 1,000 athletes from 31 countries are taking part in the 2025 Africa Karate Championship.
