Tinubu, Lawal, Matawalle Mourn As Emir Of Gusau Dies At 71

President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the passing of Dr Ibrahim Bello, the Sarkin Katsinan and Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State.

The monarch died on Friday morning in Abuja at the age of age 71. President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga described the traditional ruler’s death as a collective loss beyond his immediate domain, citing his lifelong service at different levels.

The president said the late emir would be remembered for his sense of duty, commitment to his people and exemplary leadership.

President Tinubu extended his commiseration to the government, the people of Zamfara State, and the family of the late monarch. He prayed for Allah’s mercy on the soul of the departed emir.

Similarly, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has commiserated with the people of the state over the death of the Emir of Gusau, Dr Ibrahim Bello.

In a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Idris Bala, the governor described the emir’s death as a personal loss, noting that he was a supportive royal father and a capable leader who dedicated himself to making Zamfara State better.

“I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau.

“I expressed my heartfelt condolences to the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, immediate and extended families of the late Emir, Gusau emirate, as well as the entire people of Zamfara State.

“His Highness’s passing is a huge loss for the people of Zamfara State, as well as for the North and Nigeria as a whole.

“The late royal father dedicated 10 years of serving the people after becoming the 15th Emir of Gusau on March 16, 2015. He led with commitment, dedication, and a strong sense of faith,” he said.

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has also expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the emir.

In a statement personally signed, the former Zamfara State governor described the monarch’s death as a monumental loss to the state and the nation, citing his vital role in promoting peace and development.

“The passing of the Emir of Gusau, HRH Ibrahim Bello, is heartbreaking. His death leaves a wide gap across many aspects of life, especially as we mourn the loss of his royal guidance and wise counsel on critical issues related to security, education, health and economic growth,” Matawalle stated.

The minister emphasised that the emir’s contributions were especially needed at a time when the state is striving to overcome multiple challenges and secure a brighter future.
