CORBON To Register, Train Additional Cadres Of Building Artisans

The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria, (CORBON) is to commence the registration of other Cadres of practitioners in the process of building delivery.

The National Chairman of the Council, BLDR Samson Ameh Opaluwah who made this known in a press briefing at the weekend in Abuja, also revealed that these Cadres will include building technologists, building technicians and building craftsmen.

Opaluwah said this decision was made at the Council’s 125th meeting this year and it aims to foster professional growth and development in the building industry as well as enhance pathway for recognition and licencing of these Cadres of building personnel.

While also explaining that it is in recognition of support for President Tinubu’s Initiative on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) that these Cadres are being given proper recognition and licencing within the national economy.

The builder also announced that with this decision, the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and the consequential certification have now been approved for recognition in CORBON’s registration processes.

“The new registers which introduce additional tiers and specialty recognition within CORBON’s framework are designed to accommodate other technical players who work on building projects, recognise and license competences as well as achievements for all Cadres of personnel builders, provide for the transition of craftsmen into the mainstream register of Builders as well as manage/ maintain their delivery capacity in the management of the building processes and determine the appropriate skill levels for efficient performance of their role”, he said.

Opaluwah who further stated that the new registration Cadres aim to benefit a wide array of stakeholders which includes Practitioners, Employers as well as Regulatory Agencies, Government and the Society, also called on building technologists, technicians and craftsmen to take advantage of the opportunities the new registration present adding that there will be call for application in due course.
