Mutfwang stated this at the funeral service held in her honour at the Church of Christ In Nation (COCIN) headquarters’ church in Jos, the Plateau State capital, at the weekend.

The governor also described Pher as an illustrious daughter of the state, a professor in her own right, and a daughter of a professor who had demonstrated her intellectual capacity.

He added that just when they thought she would begin to earn her place of leadership in the state, it pleased God to call her home.

Mutfwang pointed out that they were comforted in the fact that Professor Janet knew where she was going, stressing that that alone was a great comfort to her immediate family members and the people of the state.

Delivering his sermon during the service, Rev. David Pofi, read from the Book of Revelation and referred to the biblical story of Abraham, the rich man, and Lazarus. He beseeched the attendees to be mindful of death and judgment, saying, “No amount of prayers after death can change one’s destination.

He admonished the living to repent and live rightly before God.

Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, in his condolence message, described the late Professor Janet Plang as a “quintessential woman and mother, who loved humanity and did all within her powers to inculcate the same in the lives of our children.

“On behalf of the 10th Senate, I pray for the repose of her soul and may God grant the father, husband and children as well as those who knew her while she was here with us, the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss in Jesus’ name.”

In the same vein, the President of the Senators’ Wives Association of Nigeria (SEWAN), Dr (Mrs) Unoma Godswill Akpabio, noted that the departed Professor, who headed the Association’s Committee on Education, was a very committed and dedicated member of the group, who carried out her assignments with all her strengths and vigour.

“Our departed sister will be greatly missed. We will miss her candour and commitment to the progress of the Association. She was an integral part of us. It was her committee that made it possible for us to intervene in the education of 15 indigent students of the University of Abuja. We pray for the family and loved ones left behind, and may her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” she said.

Senator Diket Plang, in his remarks at the occasion, thanked the COCIN church Leadership, the Plateau State government, the GOSA family, Traditional rulers, and the 10th National Assembly for their support, prayers, and kindness during the illness and ultimate death of his beloved wife, Prof. Mrs Janet Plang.
