The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended one Usman Ahmed, 40, of Abba Ibrahim Estate, Damaturu, for allegedly assaulting a female health worker at the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, the state capital.
In a statement issued yesterday by SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police public relations officer, he said the suspect reportedly used a neem stick to attack the health worker after a dispute over medical attention.
According to the statement, following a distress call from hospital security personnel, ‘C’ Divisional police personnel swiftly mobilised and arrested the perpetrator.
However, court proceedings have commenced, and the suspect will face the consequences of their actions.
Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, PSC, FDC, strongly condemns such acts of violence and warns against taking the law into one’s own hands.
He assures that heavier penalties will be imposed on anyone found guilty. To address grievances effectively:
Leadership gathered that complaints should be reported to designated authorities or complaint desks in institutions, utilised established procedures for addressing unprofessional conduct, and refrained from using unauthorised means to seek redress.

Inform authorities about violent incidents or unprofessional conduct. Encourage peaceful resolution of disputes and Respect and protect health workers’ rights.
