PDP Female Candidate Unveils Plan For AMAC Ward

An advocate for women empowerment and community development in Nigeria, Hon. Loveth Izekor, has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to represent the City Centre ward in Abuja Municipal  Area Council (AMAC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a councillor.

Before clinching the party’s ticket for the election to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in February 2026, Izekor served as the PDP South South AMAC publicity secretary and was part of the National Youth Campaign Council 2022 and National Campaign Council.

She also contested for the FCT PDP state publicity secretary, hoping to demonstrate her dedication to public service.

Izekor was the only female among the 62 candidates the PDP is fielding for councillor positions in the forthcoming local government election. The party unveiled them on July 9, 2025, in Abuja.

Speaking on her vision for the ward if elected at the poll, Izekor, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Oveth Limited, said she wants to re-enact her feat in public office.

According to her, she has successfully driven strategic business growth and real estate innovation in the private sector and in community engagement.

Izekor’s ambition has been endorsed by her teaming supporters and the leadership of the PDP Global Ambassadors Worldwide, who are mobilising for all the party’s candidates in the election. “We are thrilled to announce the candidacy of Hon. Loveth Izekor for councillor, City Centre Ward,” the announcement said during the unveiling ceremony.

On what she will bring to the office if elected, Izekor said, “My leadership expertise has been honed through training at the Centre for Leadership and Strategic Development. I’m passionate about inspiring and empowering people, especially younger women, which led me to found Young Ladies in Politics, an NGO operating across Nigeria, providing mentorship and support for young women in leadership.

“With a strong background in the banking sector, I bring a unique blend of business acumen and leadership expertise to my endeavours. My determination has been recognised with several awards, including the Aso Heritage Award and Young African Women Lead Award, among others.

“I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration. My vision is a society where women occupy significant leadership positions, contributing to a balanced and equitable world. Through my work, I inspire positive change and foster the next generation of empowered youth,” she said.
