Our correspondent gathered that the farmer was killed on Monday afternoon while working on his farm in the area.

The victim was said to have been caught unaware when the elephants invaded his farm, attacked him and later died from the injuries he sustained while being rushed to the hospital.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the tragic incident has been a recurring incident in the community for over four years.

Some of the locals, who spoke with LEADERSHIP on the phone about the sad incident, said that a particular elephant has been invading their community, destroying crops and fishing ponds, without anyone having the courage to repel it before it finally claimed its first victim.

When contacted, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, confirmed the incident, stressing that the matter had been reported to the Ogbere Divisional Headquarters of the Police.
