Federal Ministry of Regional Development (FMRD) has reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare and workplace modernisation. It plans to become a fully digital and paperless institution by the end of 2025.
At the ministry’s quarterly town hall meeting with the staff union in Abuja, the permanent secretary, Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe, emphasised the importance of an enabling work environment in boosting productivity.
“The concerns raised by staff are not taken lightly. Management is working tirelessly to ensure they are addressed effectively,” Dr Ogbe stated.
She assured staff that welfare remains a top priority for the ministry.
She also revealed that the ministry is accelerating efforts to digitise its operations, which she described as “a major step towards modernisation and efficiency.” Staff were encouraged to take advantage of ongoing training opportunities to improve their computer literacy and digital competencies.
Earlier, the chairman of the Staff Union, Mr Ben Ogede, expressed disappointment over the Honourable Minister’s absence from the meeting.
However, he expressed hope that future town halls would feature the Minister’s presence to enhance engagement and communication between staff and leadership.
Discussions during the meeting focused on staff welfare, proposed training programmes, and the Ministry’s digital transformation agenda.
The meeting was part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to foster open dialogue and ensure a motivated and future-ready workforce.
