As the world faces new challenges, a group, Development of Educational Action Network (DEAN), has called for a review of educational curriculum to meet the current realities.
The executive director of DEAN, Semiye Michael, made the appeal at the 2022 Abuja “Transforming Education Summit” in conjunction with World Largest Lesson.
The theme of the summit was “Re-envisioning national development through an ambitious Nigeria school curriculum – a strategic approach to transforming national education.”
Michael said, “Our education system needs to adapt to the shifting skills needed professionally, making learning more student-centred, connected, dynamic, inclusive and collaborative, allowing creativity to blossom.
Michael said over 97 students were drawn from five secondary schools, six primary schools around the FCT including the School for the Gifted, Gwagwalada where the summit took place, adding that the summit was an avenue to rethink through the school curriculum lens, the world was changing daily and witnessing increasing challenges yet our educational curriculum remains the same.
