An eyewitness account revealed that the incident occurred Sunday while the lawmaker and officers travelled with his entourage.

The witness said, “One of the vehicles developed a mechanical fault, causing the policemen to remain behind as the rest of the convoy continued the journey.

“It was during this delay that the gunmen attacked and killed the officers.”

In his reaction, the police public relations officer, PPRO Henry Okoye, highlighted that the command has put machinery in place to arrest the culprits.
