Yobe Flags Off 2025 Breastfeeding Week

Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services, in collaboration with the Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board, has officially launched the 2025 World Breastfeeding Week with a strong call for a sustainable support system for nursing mothers.

The event was held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Yobe State Specialist Hospital in Damaturu. It united government officials, healthcare professionals, and development partners to reaffirm their commitment to promoting optimal breastfeeding practices nationwide.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, emphasised the need for collective commitment to the health and well-being of children, particularly those under the age of one.

Represented by the Chief Medical Director of the State Specialist Hospital, Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration restated its commitment to ensuring the well-being of nursing mothers and children for a healthy society.

Speaking also, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, was represented by the Director of Community and Family Health, Ibrahim Maikasuwa, FSI, who delivered the opening remarks.
