Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties are no match for APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of the APC Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, made this declaration after inspecting the ICT/Data Centre at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, under the auspices of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), preparatory to a forthcoming electronic registration of members.

Accompanied by his Kogi state counterpart, Governor Usman Ododo, the Imo state governor said there are only two political parties in Nigeria: APC and others.

Asked about his take on the ADC’s claim that having the APC government after the 2027 election would be disastrous, Uzodinma said, “You called it a claim. It is their claim, not our claim.

“I know there are only two parties in Nigeria, the All Progressive Congress and others.”

On their mission to the party’s national headquarters, he said: “We came to monitor and evaluate the extent of the e-registration exercise and what has been done. We have inspected and conducted a trip around the facilities and are highly impressed with what we saw. We are also confident that our e-registration exercise will start in full force at any moment now.”

Expressing APC governors’ support to the new party’s national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the former lawmaker representing Imo West senatorial district said, “Look at him, this handsome, tall man, full of energy and intelligence.

“I think our party is very excited and happy with the choice of our new National Chairman, and we are confident that this is what we are looking for.”

Also speaking, Yilwatda, who conducted the governor’s tour of the facility, said the APC is a leading party by far compared to any other political party, and it is deepening technology while maintaining dominance in all ramifications.

“When it comes to APC, we are exemplary and you can see it in the way we conducted ourselves in the NEC, you can see how the Governors are relating with the party, you can see how the members are relating with the party, how we have made this party attractive to the people, attractive to the nation, attractive also to the Governors.

“So we are deepening our relationship every day and on this illustration, we are a leading party by far compared to any other political party and we want to ensure that we deepen technology, we ensure that we lead in all respects, in all ramifications and technology is one aspect that we are doing, so that we are leading also in that same respect, ensuring that we know the number of people are part of our political party.

“We can know people who will vote for us, predict the number of people supporting us, and deepen our base in each state. We are doing this; it will help us research, deepen technology, and help our relationship support our members at all levels,” he said.

On his part, Governor Ododo pledged the loyalty and support of the APC Governors to President Bola Tinubu, the national chairman and the party machinery to always succeed at electoral contests.

Yilwatda Presides Over First NWC Meeting

Yilwatda presided over the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for the first time since his emergence on Tuesday.

Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, emerged as the APC national chairman during the 14th meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on July 24, 2025.

The 177th regular meeting of the APC NWC was held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

While details of the meeting were yet to be made known as the NWC did not brief journalists covering the party or issue a statement, LEADERSHIP learnt the administrative organ looked at the planned electronic registration of members and reviewed the schedule of activities and timetable for the 2026 Ekiti state governorship elections.

The APC national chairman received the chairman of the APC Governors under the auspices of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodinma, who was accompanied by his Kogi state counterpart, Usman.

They were conducted around the ICT/Data Centre at the APC national secretariat, preparatory to the upcoming electronic registration of members.

Speaking with journalists after assessing the facility, Uzodinmna expressed satisfaction with the preparation ahead of the exercise.

“We came to monitor and evaluate the extent of the e-registration exercise, what has been done, and we have inspected and conducted a trip round the facilities, and we are highly impressed with what we saw and also confident that any moment from now our e-registration exercise will start in full force,” he said.

For his part, Yilwatda said the planned electronic registration is intended to determine the party’s membership and support base nationwide.

“We can know who will vote for us, predict the number of people supporting us, and deepen our base in each state.

“This is what we are doing; it will help us research, deepen technology, and help our relationship provide support for our members at all levels,” he said.
