The governor, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, enumerated various efforts made by the government to make healthcare accessible and affordable to the people.

The minister, who was represented by the chief medical director of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Professor Anas Sabir, stressed the need for the conference to produce recommendations on how to improve manpower and the use of technology in the health sector.

In his address, the royal father of the day, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubukar, expressed dismay that despite the number of eminent medical practitioners in the country, Nigerians in their thousands are going for medical treatment abroad.

The Sultan therefore enjoined the participants to put their heads together towards addressing this trend.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an award to Governor Ahmed Aliyu by the President of Postgraduate Medical College Fellows Association, Professor Peter Ebeigbe, in recognition of his gigantic efforts toward revitalising the health sector in the state.
