Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has strongly warned public officials, that any appointee that cannot uphold the integrity of office should resign rather than damage the image of his administration.

The warning follows the resignation of the Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi Dala, who stepped down after being linked to the bail of a suspected drug offender.

Speaking at the 30th State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf reiterated his government’s zero tolerance for misconduct, corruption, and drug-related offences.

“Let it be clear: we will not tolerate any conduct—official or private—that undermines the values we stand for,” he said. “Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings. You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration.”

Governor Yusuf, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stressed that anyone found aiding or abetting criminal behaviour would face the full weight of the law.

“If anyone among you feels he can no longer uphold the trust bestowed upon him, it is better to voluntarily resign rather than engage in misconduct that could tarnish the image of this administration,” he declared.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fight against drugs and other harmful societal behaviours.

“We came into office with a clear mandate to restore sanity, integrity, and progress in Kano. That mission will not be compromised. I urge all appointees to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of this administration,” he added.
