Civil servants in Taraba State have called on Governor Agbu Kefas to sack the commissioner for finance Mrs. Sera Enock Adi and the accountant-general Mr. Gauis  Danjuma following the strike embarked on by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) that crippled government and economic activities in the state.

The workes told LEADERSHIP yesterday in Jalingo, the state capital, when our correspondent went round the town to monitor the effectiveness of the strike announced by the two unions in the late hours of Sunday.

LEADERSHIP discovered that both NLC and TUC closed the gates of the Taraba State secretariat located along Barde Way in Jalingo and other government ministries and units. Leaders of the NLC were seen sending back workers who intended to resume work.

Crisis escalated between the unions and state government over the screening organised by the commissioner through a committee, which resulted in the sacking of over 7,000 civil servants in the state. The substantial state workforce also received their salaries with shortfalls as a result of the biometric screening exercise four months ago.

The workers who were chased away from their various offices blamed the commissioner and the accountant-general for the crisis.
