The commissioner for Post Basic Education, Sir Chijioke Mark, stated this in an interview with our correspondent after addressing the West African Examinations Council 2022 Annual Meeting for South East zone in Umuahia, the state capital.

He said eliminating examination malpractice and other negative attitudes by all would help in developing the country’s education system particularly and the society in general.

Addressing the meeting earlier, the commissioner frowned at the compromising attitude of some students, teachers and school proprietors towards examination malpractice.

Mark, who called on students to always be attentive during lectures and to read their lecture notes and books regularly, appealed to the council to be more proactive in its effort to provide quality education in the country.

In his remarks, the controller in charge of the zone, Mr A. D. Oluwatoyin, reiterated the need for every stakeholder in the education sector to join hands in the campaign against the country.

Blaming the development as one of the factors that led to disruption of academic calendar in the country, he explained that the council had recorded critical achievements in the campaign.
