The Kano State Police Command has imposed movement restrictions in Ghari, Tsanyawa, Bagwai, and Shanono local government areas ahead of Saturday, August 16 re-run and by-elections.

According to the police, the restriction, which will be in force from midnight on Friday, August 15, to 6p.m. on Saturday, August 16, is aimed at maintaining law and order during the Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency re-run and the Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency by-election.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa in a statement said however that exceptions will be made only for vehicles on essential duties such as ambulances, fire service trucks, vehicles conveying electoral officers, and accredited election observers.

Non-voters and unauthorised agents have also been banned from polling units, as well as prohibition of political party logos display, and carrying of weapons.

Loitering around polling stations will also not be allowed, while state security outfits such as vigilante groups and KAROTA personnel are equally barred from polling units.
