‎‎Head of the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau in Abia State, Dr Oluebube Chukwu, has underscored the need to translate global solidarity with humanitarian workers into action.

‎‎Chukwu made the call on Monday while speaking with newsmen during the commemoration of the 2025 World Humanitarian Day in Umuahia, the state capital.

‎‎He described the event’s theme, “Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities,” as timely, stressing that all hands must be on deck to ensure the translation.

‎‎He pointed to the need to build resilient societies in which communities, especially women and girls, are not just recipients of aid but active participants in shaping their futures.

‎Chukwu, founder of a humanitarian NGO, Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation, explained, “World Humanitarian Day reminds us that people helping people is at the heart of lasting development.”

‎‎”True progress is achieved when we listen to the voices of the most affected, empower them to lead, and work with them to create sustainable solutions.
Empowering local communities is not charity, it is justice.”
‎
‎He expressed concern over insecurity in parts of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states by Boko Haram, and “Benue, Plateau, Niger, and Sokoto states, where violent conflicts and displacement have left thousands homeless”.
‎
‎He also noted with worry that the rising cases of banditry, farmer/herder clashes, and floods in states like Kebbi, Kogi, and Anambra have further compounded the humanitarian burden.
